Feeling Mischievous @Mischief

Mischief is a restaurant that boasts of American cuisine with a little fusion of South East Asian street food. Located at Esplanade, it is a cool place just next to Marina bay. Nice view, breezy and spacious surroundings.

Table of Plenty
A flatlay of what we were offered for our media tasting.

Naughty cheese pot ($12)
Cheese sauce, made with naughty with beef chilli and jalepenos

Cajun Spiced Spring Chicken ($11 for half a chicken)
Tender and moist. Alittle spicy. Liked the gherkins as it actually helped to tone down the grease and acted as a palate cleanser.

Wagyu Beef Brisket ($25 for 200g)
24 hr slow cooked with Mischief's special spice rub

Nice thin slices with flavorful seasonings. But it would be ideal if paired with some greens to balance off the meatiness.

Mac and Cheese with bacon and onions with a mozzarella crust

I hardly eat mac and cheese. But I do like this.  Right amount of cheese and the macaroni was cooked aldente.

Crackling Pork Belly ($20 for 200g)
Seasoned with sea salt, garlic, whole grain mustard, garlic and oregano

One of the good ones I have eaten so far. It was indeed crispy and crackling. Good even if eaten on its own.

Broccoli & Brie Au Gratin ($8)
Sautéed broccoli with melted brie cheese on top

Alittle cheesy for me. I still prefer to eat my greens as is.

Buffalo wings ($16)
Deep fried chicken wings with a tangy and spicy coating and blue cheese dip

Most deep fried foods taste good, right? Crispy skin. A very suitable coating as the tangyness brought out the sweetness of the chicken flesh. This was indeed quite lip-smacking.

As  most will know, lemon added to blue pea turns the drink purplish. This was non-alcoholic. It is a refreshing drink but perhaps alittle sweet for me.

Overall, the food is good. It is quite an ideal place to chill, hang out with friends or even on your own. Why not... the ambience and view is a great advantage.

Thank you, Jeremy @mischief for the invite.

Naughty Three Sum Afternoons @Tiong Bahru Bakery

Tiong Bahru Bakery has three outlets, namely : Eng Hoon Street, Raffles City and Tangs. The latest outlet at Chip Bee Gardens just recently opened for business.

Boasting of croissants, tarts, breads, sandwiches etc and artisanal coffee by CMCR.

Just very recently, Tiong Bahru Bakery launched the new Afternoon Three Sum. Presented in a three tier Chinese steamer.

Top tier, here you will find Tiong Bahru Bakery favorites. The pulled pork finger sandwich, croque monsieur and smoked salmon in a mini squid ink bun. I have always loved pulled pork, so no surprises it was my most liked. The bun was alittle crisp on the outside with a slight fluffiness inside.

The second tier is French inspired. A varlhona dark chocolate tart, a mini financier and lemon tart. Chocolate tart looked a bit dry on top but when you sliced it, your eyes will be greeted with a dark brown moist ooze. In this basket, my favourite was the lemon tart. I liked it because it was not sweet. The tangyness, the tartness, the zestyness and the zing was a yummy burst on my palate.

The third tier highlights local inspired desserts. Pandan tartlette, blue pea and yuzu panacotta and a coconut cheesecake. I find the blue pea panacotta alittle sweet. Cheesecake was slightly heavy. However, I enjoyed the pandan tartlette the most. It was surprisingly light, a fragrant pandan tone and the closest representation of one of our local snack.

Of course, with all these snacks, pair it off with a cup of mojo by Coffeeman Coffee Roasters or the TBB Teh Tarik (red rooibos milk tea) or Nymph of the Nile tea (organic white tea, rose hips, strawberry leaves, pink rose petals, basil). My choice would be the TBB Teh Tarik.

So have a "Three Sum" and get naughty in the afternoons.

The Afternoon Three Sum is available daily from 3 to 5 pm and priced at $25.
