Shukuu Izakaya (Media Invite)

Izakaya main focus is drinks. But for Shukuu Izakaya, the emphasis is more on food.

With lunch sets going at between $15 to $25. With every set, one can choose to pick a serving of salad from 3 salads offered. Potato salad, salad (mostly greens) & roasted eggplant with sesame. I chose the eggplant simply because I love eggplant. Cooked to slightly mushy and tossed in a creamy sesame sauce, it was rather fragrant. I personally felt the sesame was abit heavy and overpowered the natural sweetness of the eggplant. However it was the best and most unique of the 3 salads offered.

The premium Kaisen Don set ($25) consisted of akaebi (red shrimp), hamachi (yellowtail), scallops and ikura. My favorite was the hamachi. Fresh and had a dainty natural sweetness that one do not dip into the soya sauce. Just eat it on its own and it tasted like it just came from the sea. Considering the reasonable portions, this is value for money.

The Katsu Don is a new lunch set. Pork breaded and baked in egg. Whilst I liked the flavor of the baked egg, I do find the pork piece alittle thick and tough.

Shukuu Izakaya is in a convenient location. Lunch hours are always packed with the office crowds. So be early if you crave for fresh and reasonable dons and sashimi.

Thank you Shukuu Izakaya for hosting.
